Greetings. I'm possibly going to take yet another foray away from 1911s. Saw a Browning Hi-Power at gun show today. All Begium made ("C" in the serial number), excellent (almost mint) condition. Comes in rug, with one 13 round mag.

What is it worth????????????

Please keep in mind that my preferred strategy in buying used guns is to get them cheap enough so that if/when I decide to sell it I can either break even, or take a very shallow bath.

So, what's a -

Screaming deal-

Good/fair price-

on this pistola, out the door?

Thanks!

A survey of closed auctions for the last three months at one of the big auction sites shows end prices for a couple of excellent or better "c" ser. no. High Powers to be circa $625-650 "out the door". I would consider these to be top prices, and you may do much better. I would jump at a deal under $500.

I'd say a screamin' deal would be anything under $600. The farther down, the more it screams. :D

A fair deal, IMO, would be about $650. I don't think I'd pay anything over $700, unless it really spoke to me (like if it were a T-series).

Let us know if you get it! ;)

It all depends on the shape of the gun and the ability in your area to find another in the same shape. Let's say it's NIB or LNIB and I haven't been able to find one. If I really wanted it and had been looking for one, personally I would pay more than the NRA going rate. If you see six of them at every gunshow in your area, then you can be selective and bargain minded.

I am currently in the midst of aquiring a certain firearm I have a strong hankerin for. I don't see them everywhere, by any means and they don't make them anymore. I want as close to perfect as I can get and have found one. I'm sure I will end up paying a decent amount of $ for it but, I rarely see them for sale and when I do they're not in the condition this one is. I guess I could spend 5 years searching for a better price on the same condition gun, but why pass up the finding and be sick you did in the process?
