What, if any, are the advantages of ghost ring sights on a handgun???
I'm looking to strip off the plastic stock sights on my new G26.
My tired middle aged eyes aren't what they used to be and I'm condemed to wearing bifocals. :rolleyes:
Would ghost ring sights improve my sight pucture or should I just stick with the three dot sights that I am used to??
I'd like to get tritium, but the budget (read wife) won't allow $120 to go out the door right now!! :scrutiny:

Try "ghost ring" sights on somebody elses handgun before you jump in.

Might be the greatest thing since paper plates for you...

Try someone's gun with the Ashleys...err...AO set up. I shot one that a gentleman set up because his eyes were not as young as his heart and soul.

Agree with Sam, try a variety of other systems on other's guns...

IIRC Correia uses the AO on a 1911 for 3 gun...

I had high hopes for the 'One Ragged Hole' sight that I tried on my .44 Redhawk, but it was somewhat disappointing. Not horrible.... just no better than standard iron sights for me. I could have spent the money on more brass and been happier.

IMO the ghost ring handgun sight is intended to replicate the sight picture of a long gun's rear aperture sight. On a long gun, however, the sight is always a fixed distance from your eye, which is not the case with a handgun. I think trying to obtain a quick sight picture would be more difficult because you are trying to locate the front sight through the hole. I like the concept of the "express" sight (broad shallow rear V notch, front dot) better for quick/close work.

Patridge sights are still the best for handguns.The GR works if the eye is close to the ring where it automatically centers the ring to the eye. 'Therefore the GR doesn't work on handguns.
