Looking at getting a carry gun, and have chosen (at least for now) either the Kahr K9 or MK9. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one is better... more problems with one or the other?

I can only tell you that I have the MK9 and it is my most often or always carry gun. It has NEVER burped in ANY way since I have had it, and is much easier to shoot and more accurate than any diminutive gun of its size has any right to be. I like it very much indeed and hope you find one that is as good as mine and you like as much.

I have handled and shot both the 9/40 and I prefer the 9mm...Go to the local gunshop and see if ya like it...

I make more holsters for the 9mm Mk9, so that seems to be the prevalent choice these days..

I have the MK9, K9, and PM9. If I had to choose one, it would be the K9. It's big enough for pleasure shooting, but small enough so that just about anybody can hide it. All 3 of mine have been accurate and reliable (after a 200 round break-in).

I don't think you could go wrong with either.
I had a MK9 that I loved.
Had over 500 flawless rounds through it.
I still miss it. :(

Only traded it when I found a PM9.:D

I can speak for the PM9 as a very accurate shooter. Very concealable and dependable. I had a freak problem with a mag release spring but Kahr took care of it in record time and it is running like clockwork with over 400 rounds through it, and most of those were +p Speer Gold Dots.

K9 = more comfortable to shoot
MK9= more comfortable to carry

both are excellent little pistols ... I recommend you get the MK to carry and pick up a K for shootin'

Remember ... he who dies with the most guns wins :D

Hey, I've got an MK9 Elite 98 for sale here in the Trading Post! ;)

Great little gun. Gotta finance the P7M8 purchase, though....

Kahrs carry wonderfully. I have the K40 stainless and love it. (I'm going to sell it, but not because of any performance issues. - It's the more common; "I gotta sell this so I can get that" syndrome.)

Beware Jim .... that's why I sold my MK40. While I love the AR15 I bought I still really miss the little Kahr (and honestly I have more use for the Kahr then the AR)

Zundfolge,

I know I'll be sorry. However, as much as I love the Kahr, I love the Springfield Micro-Compact that replced it even more. I guess it's not really that I can't have both, it's just that, especially with my full-size 1911 as a "mate", there's just less reason for having the Kahr around.

I like my MK9 Elite 2003 with night sights and wood grips:

The K-9 is a whoop and a hollor for me. Althugh close to the same weight as the shorty-short Kimber, the Karh is much slimmer, and the 9 m.m. is almost pleasant to short when compared with short .45 A.C.P. I also added a Harrt's Recoil Reducer - replaces the standard Karh guide rod. ( I have noticed Harrt's ads have stopped listing Karh recoil reducers. Mine came from Brownells.)
I am still circumnavigating the leather belt world trying to figure out the the excellent Tucker Guleather IWB holster- with a serious clip to boot - will fit the best.

Yikes! Getting all twiter-pated when I think there is an audience! Beside a couple of other grammatical wrong-a-roos in my first post, the town's proper name is "Pagosa Springs."

Welcome to THR, Dave. :)

BTW, you can hit the edit button on the lower right corner of your post when you catch "wrong-a-roos" after the fact. Don't need to add another post to correct the previous one.

;)

Hey, oldfella. Wood grips sure do look nice!

I have a K-9 Elite 98. It is heavy, but carries pretty well. I don't carry it often though. It shoots great. Not much recoil, and it is pretty darn accurate. I have always had a preference for all-steel guns though....

Thanks, BamBam-31 - as you probably noticed, these grips are the checkered ones. In addition to "looking good", they add comfort to the shooting experience - they add about ΒΌ" to the overall size of the grip... many have complained about the skinny/thin grip of the Kahr.... and yes, these 9mm beauties are "one-handed" shooters, recoil is minimal even with +P ammo.
