Any word on a Savage's durability?

I've been hunting with Savage rifles for alomost 20 years. I started with a 110B that now belongs to my brother. The varinsh is wearing, the bluing is thin, it has scratches... (none of them put there by me) The rear sight is missing, but it still shoots 3/4 inch 4 shot groups off the bench.
When I gave my brother that rifle I bought a model 116fsak weather warrior, and frankly I've lost count of how much game I've killed with both rifles.
The stainless finish has stood up to the worst weather Colorado has to offer. I've never seen rust on it.. even when the weather was so wet a cartridge started turning green in the barrel. The synthetic stock has held up well, though it has a few scratches. That model 116 will drop 3 bullets through a dime at 100 yards and do it again and again, provided you let the barrel cool down.
Keep 'em clean, keep 'em oiled they will last a lifetime.

i have yet to have a good experience w/ a savage. the ones that have come through me w/ wood stocks all seem to develop nasty cracks that run lengthwise through the wood.
most recently, after 4 years of hunting, my 110 decided it doesn't like to fire anymore. no matter how much pressure is applied to the trigger, it won't fire. the rifle does this at random...sometimes it fires, sometimes not. great confidence builder.
anyway, i'll never have another savage.
