good news from Hartford

Severals weeks back I mentioned I emailed Hartford wondering if they could also make an adjustible sight version of their stout repro guns with goodies like case coloring and octagon barrels, the stuff only custom builders are doing. Well, I forgot all about it and then yesterday this came;
Dear Sir:
If you can be very patient, we will be developing an adjustable sight
version. We need to satisfy the first rush of buyers which is quite
atask since so many people have ordered guns. Please bear with us.

I assume they will have the old 3 screw type actions on them too.

Hartford is working hard to meet order delivery schedules. I like that. I wonder if I shouldn't send in an order for a couple of 1890s myself? They are a responsive company.

Turns out those are two-screw actions. I keep wishing somebody will bring out a stout flat top three-screw and offer true case coloring and octagon barrels and maybe five-shot cylinders. Wonder why no one has.

I wonder if they'll bring out a flat-top, adjustable sight New Service, with proper heat treating and modern metalurgy?

THAT is a good question. CAS and hunting/collecting is Hartfords main concern. If $A$$ keeps POing their customers, other western shooting groups may grow. Many of the little guys allow double action revolvers and period semi-autos. They might.

Their next introduction WON'T be a Colt. Can you spell S&W? It gets interesting!

Do you have a link to this company? I have never heard of them.

John Ross makes a pretty good case that
S&W's previous owners were the ones who made the pact,
they sold out (at a big loss, yay),
the company (and its new owners) are decent again,
they're doing interesting things, and hence
we should support them.

Comprehension works well with reading. S&W is not involved anywhere in this thread. We are talking about an excellent new clone manufacturer, Hartford Armory. They are currently producing the best Remington clones on the market. My sources tell me that the S&W Triple Lock might be their next large caliber clone. Read, comprehend and then post.

Wow. Wouldn't that be great. I bet a gun maker could corner a serious share of the market if they were to make exact repos of the best old guns, like triple locks, 1950 targets, old model rugers,....too many to list.

Okay -- if I can't have a Colt New Service, I'll take a Triple Lock -- in .45 Colt.

Josey didn't like my defence of S&W, and snippily remarked

while overlooking Pigpen's previous post, which I was responding to:

I understand where Pigpen is coming from, because I would have said the exact same thing before reading the John Ross column I cited.
I don't think that sniping at each other does anything good. What's the name of this board again??
