I looked at Steyrs about a year ago before I bought my Springfield 1911. I'm in the market for something smaller for carry and after the pro Steyr threads here I went and looked again today. I like the M40, but do they make a more compact model?

Yes, they do. It is the S40. CDNN had Steyr's for $299, my brother received one for Christmas from his wife.

Hey GB, I had one of the S9 a while back. If I remember from a shot show or 2 ago. They were going to come out with a large frame .45 and supposedly an "xs" model or a true subcompact, smaller than the S9/40. I haven't heard anything from them recently. Maybe some news form the shot show!

sox, when i asked via email about the rumor of a .45 from steyr, freidrich aigner replied saying: "we dont plan to produce a pistol in 45 caliber in the next future."
i think he meant NEAR future.

thanks for the replies everyone.
I carry a .45 now, just thought I'd go for a .40S&W.
Maybe I can find a S40 around here to check it out.
