huduguru June 30, 2004, 06:13 PM Don't shoot me! I went to Big 5 and they had the Hawk 98
riot shotgun on sale for $139! Everything I want on a combat shotgun.
Ghost rings, parkerized, all black. I fired 100 rounds out of it the other
day and it actually functioned smoothly compared to a real 870
I used to have. My other Express was a pos that wouldnt even let me
pump the empty out without manhandling it. I have heard all the
political hoopla about China being a communist country and our main
enemy but has anybody ever seen one of these break prematurely?
I've been to just about every internet board and people seem to think
these are great shotguns. I even heard that Louis Awerbuck
thought they were great shotguns. An equivalent 870 police would have set me back about $500. If this thing lasts(I believe it will) I think
these are the best deal in a combat shotgun out there right now. :cuss:
Oh Ya, it has an aluminum trigger housing and no locking safety. :neener:

Fred Fuller June 30, 2004, 08:44 PM No worries, hudu. Just use the money you saved to buy a case or two of buckshot so you'll be ready when the Fourth Mongolian Horde (the REAL one) shows up in your neighborhood. Personally I think it would be poetic justice to use your chicom shotty as a genuine Homeland Defense tool.
Their copy of the 1911A1 .45 auto is outstanding, no reason they can't copy a proven shotgun successfully as well. I haven't heard anything bad about that particular model, they sell well in this area and I whould hear about it if they were coming back with problems. I have heard many 870 accessories will fit as well as some Remington parts, haven't had any personal experience with them tho.
Dang it, now I'm gonna have to get one to tinker with- look what you've done!

SASS#23149 July 1, 2004, 08:33 PM WOW!!!! WHAT A PRICE!
Lots of the cowboy crowd shoot 'em and they hold together just fine.after a dozen boxes or so she'll loosen up just right.
I gotta start going to Big 5 more, they aren't real close but sounds like I need to drop in once in a while.
Tomac July 3, 2004, 08:39 AM I have 2 of them myself and after 100's of rds of mixed field loads, buck & slug the only problem encountered so far is the front and rear ghost ring sights loosening from recoil (easy fix w/loctite). So far they've taken the Remington R3 recoil pad, factory Remington 870 bolt, SideSaddle, Wilson spring/follower & the magazine tube cap w/the sling swivel stud. Not bad for an inexpensive plinker/beater shotgun!

Has anyone actually handled and shot the H&R version called the "Pardner Pump"? IIRC this one is made by Norinco.

huduguru July 4, 2004, 04:00 PM Tomac, did your front sight fall off? Just wondering because it is
so big that it seems easy to hit on something. I guess they are
brazed onto the barrel.
WhiteKnight July 4, 2004, 04:08 PM Is "Big 5" an actual store, or is that nickname for a store (ie 'Wally World') ?
huduguru July 4, 2004, 04:13 PM It is an actual name of a sporting goods chain in the western U.S.
They usually have some good deals on surplus rifles too. Recently
they started carrying Yugo SKS's.

My front sight is held in place by a screw that did eventually loosen from recoil. Again, loctite took care of it.

Shootcraps July 4, 2004, 08:41 PM I bought one too, but didn't get it for $139. That's an awesome price. I paid $199. I'll pick it up in two weeks or so.
scubasteve July 6, 2004, 09:01 PM does anyone know if Norinco makes that thing in a left hand model (like Remington used to do)?
And are they exact copies? In other words will parts designed to fit on a Rem 870 fit on the Norinco?
Shootcraps July 6, 2004, 09:44 PM According to the guy at the store, everything is the same except the magazine tube. It's a bit larger so that the gun isn't an exact copy.

or how much it hurts going through one's nose?
greg531mi July 8, 2004, 12:51 AM I bought one last fall, at Dunhams, here in Michigan for $99....They were out of them, so I got a raincheck...and came in a couple of weeks....Nice gun to keep around the house, and keep my good Remingtons and Winchesters in the gun safe......
