Burnrate of Hodgdman's "Benchmark?"

Is the burnrate of Hodgdman's "Benchmark" compatible with the gas system on an M1 rifle or M1A? Without thinking, I bought a pound of it and do not have a boltgun to run it through. Would like to run it through a gas gun if it should not cause problems.

Bernie, I went to "loadyourown.com", and checked the powder burn rate chart, and it shows two Benchmarks. (A #1 and #2). The #2 seems to be close to IMR4895, which is optimum for the M1A, but #1 is quite a bit faster. Why there are two different designated #`s, I have no idea. Maybe different lots?

Benchmark is just a bit faster than H4895.
