i understand that this gun has a "glock-like" trigger? (ie, same trigger pull every round, half of the trigger pull finishes cocking the striker?)

i read that you need a "tool" of sorts to decock it? that seems strange if you ask me.

i'd love to hear from folks that own one, how do you like it?

My dad and I got our P99s at the same time. I got the regular and he got the QA. Frankly, I don't see any resemblance between the QA trigger and the Glock. It's more like the S&W DAO trigger, only smoother and a little lighter. The advantage here is that there is only one trigger pull to master. With the standard P99 you have a long, rather heavy pull for the first shot (assuming you decocked the gun to begin with) followed by a shorter, lighter pull afterwards. Similar to the traditional DA auto. The QA has the same pull every time. As far as decocking, I don't think you need any special tools. There is a decocking button, if you will, in the same place as with the regular P99. It is necessary to do this before disassembly, but really not necessary at any other time. This will decock the gun, alright. Problem is you have to rack the slide to recock it. You have no second strike capability. I've shot my dad's gun quite a few times, and it's ok, but I prefer my regular P99. That's just me though.

gotta say, never really cared if i had second strike capability. if my pistol doesnt fire, i go into a malf. drill anyhow.

id rather have a shorter lighter pull (and consistant) than the traditional SA/DA

my preference though of course.

I agree about the second strike capability. I don't consider it a drawback if the gun doesn't have it. Makes a difference for some. My carry guns are Glocks. I don't carry my P99 because my G19 or G26 gets the job done and they are just a bit more easily concealed (esp. the 26).

It's just me also, but I prefer the standard P99 too. I have no trouble concealing it!! :D
