Hmm, didn't know the plague had spread to 10mm.
I have done some work with Winclean NT small primer .45 ACP. They say not to reload it but it seems to be otherwise normal so I ignored their lawyer talk.

A small pistol standard primer gave substantially less velocity than a large pistol standard. Depending on the powder, a small pistol magnum primer gave about the same velocity as a large pistol standard, or more than standard but less than large, or more than either.

You just gotta test over a chronograph and I would play it safe and not use NT for top loads. If only a few have contaminated your brass supply, just trash them.

Thanks,I've got prob 500 of them hate to see them get scraped, maybe I'll try the sm pistol mag primers on a few and chrony them like ya said and keep'em mild.

A small rifle primer will fit. I use small rifle primers in high pressure 357 SIG, and .38 Super loads. I am not alone in this practice.

I have also considered it in .40 S&W. The .40 Short & Weak is on the borderline of primer sizes. (Yes, I know that back in the 1930s, the .357 Magnum was produced with large pistol primer pockets!:D

Actually, 10mm cases taking small rifle primers would simplify my inventory requirements.

Gren,do you think small rifle primers would be better than sm pistol mag?How are the loads your using for the 357sig?

The small rifle primers work just fine in my 357 SIG loads. I have a load of Power Pistol that will push Remington 147 grain JHP's over 1400 fps.

Pressure is still reasonable. I could probably go higher, but the bullets are not designed for those velocities.

I have never tried magnum primers in the 357 SIG. My concern has been more with handling the pressure than igniting the powder. I use Power Pistol, and it is not too hard to ignite.

I'm having great sucess with Blue dot/800x with mag primers pushing Remy 180GS,but I'll have to test out the sm rilfe primers.thnxs

In another trial, I got higher velocity (9mmP) with small pistol magnum primers than with small rifle standard. I have a supply of each and little else to burn them in, so I was testing loads. Do be careful, I was getting factory equivalent velocity with a starting powder load and the hotter primers.

Just goes to show how helpful a chronograph is if you are beyond "recipe" reloading.
