Anybody know of a source of plastic or cardboard storage boxes for handguns? I am looking for somethimg small so they will take up no more room than necessary. For storage in a safe, not for transportation. Boxes available in various sises would be good.

Check out the top case - it's triangular and just fits a 2" revolver. The larger cases are rectangular.
For plain boxes I think I'd start with an X-Mart or a shipping outfit.

I like those large Dillon blue boxes. I can stuff a 5" bbl M25 or a 1911 in one and they stack nicely. They're also a lot cheaper than the MTM cases.
Cigar Boxes.
I get them free just by asking for them. I use RIG and /or store in those silicone imprenated Sack Ups [tm].
If I need a longer cigar box , I use two to make one longer. The smaller size Swisher Sweets [tm] are perfect for speedloaders and mags...

Thanks, that's about the size I'm looking for.
Might have to look for a better price though, as I need a few of them.

I was leaning towards the plastic cases because of the foam liners. Then I thought of searching for shipping boxes and I found these:
Shipping (and storage) boxes (http://www.cameronpackaging.com/foam_lined_pistol_boxes.html)
Foam lined and a lot cheaper than cases. I have cases for transporting to the range and stuff. Just need neat compact storage.

The larger Dillon blue boxes can be lined with foam and is cheap enough. They'll outlast cardboard anyday. If you want cardboard, make it yourself with a razor blade and spare foam. I may be cheap, but there's a limit to how cheap even I become. Little wonder after I take my dates to the soup kitchen they won't go for out seconds. :p

4v50 Gary -
I can't seem to find blue Dillon boxes
JohnBT - I just noticed you mentioned a shipping outfit. I read about as good as I listen.
Thanks

Dillon reloading catalogs. There's always a pretty model posing with some piece of reloading equipment. Without measuring one, they're approximately 11" long, 5" tall and 2" deep.
Can somebody with a scanner pleae scan the page in the catalog and post it here for the benefit of RJ357?

Oh, I've seen those catalogs.
That's the problem, I never got past the cover.
They have a website. I still can't find them.

You may want to rethink about storing your guns in a plastic case. You need something that "breathes" so it doesn't trap moisture. Condensed moisture will end up on the gun in a plastic case.

A drill bit or a few well placed shots will take care of the ventilation concerns.

Along with dessicant packs.

Right now they get wiped down with oil and wrapped in polyethylene bags. They get a trip to the range or get checked periodically and so far they are fine.
Storing them dry would be nice, though. Dissicant or maybe some "vapor paper".

But this looked like the best place to put it-
I smoke Rocky Patel petite Caronas- the box that they come in holds a 642 PEFECTLY. It was made for it! I'm convinced of it!
I put a piece of felt at the bottom, and now have a bedside gun than can put left in plain sight (unless kids visit).
