Will it mean a lower price on full autos? I know this is kind of a silly question but I really don't understand the entire AWB and it seems as though the price of select fire weapons went up dramatically with the introduction of the AWB. Or maybe I am just wrong and full auto weapons have always had stratospherically high prices????????

I only ask as I would love to own a select fire M14 but with current prices it simply isn't in the cards, ever. :(

Nothing at all - FA was affected by the ban on FA back in 89, or was it 87? Can't remember, never could afford it anyway, even then.

The 1986 FOPA.

New machine guns were completely banned in 1986.

The assault weapons ban has nothing to do with machine guns. This blurring of the distinction between semi auto and full auto weapons is a deliberate tactics of the anti gunners and seems to work even among some gun owners.

However the case to watch is the Stewart ruling in the 9th circuit. It may be possible soon to own home made machine guns for personal use in certain parts of the US.

That is really interesting Foreign Devil. In my ignorance I had no idea that was the case.

I readily admit to being one of those gun owners confused by the AWB. When it came to pass I really paid it no attention and now regret that as my interests have changed considerably.

From my own point of view I see absolutely no harm in a law abiding citizen owning a fully automatic weapon without having to pay a fantastic sum for it.

What criminal would jump through the hoops of legal gun purchasing only to commit a crime with said weapon? So why can't we, as legal gun owners, purchase a select fire weapon??????

Writing a letter to each of your Senators and one member of the House!

:D

The '94 AWB had nothing at all to do with any sort of fully automatic/select fire weapons or machine guns. It was a law that banned a series of weapons based completely on aesthetic considerations.

In other words, trying to reduce crime with the so-called AW ban would be like trying to reduce illegal street racing by telling someone who owns a Porshe that they can't put metal rims on their car.
