Total newbie to this forum, and have read a lot about IPSC, IDPA, High-Power matches, DCM, 3-gun, whatever. The trouble is, all of them are written by competitors for competitors, and not for novices like myself. :o

What are some good links/reading for an individual like myself who knows nothing about these competitions but the acronyms (I only know the letters, not what they stand for)?

I don't think there is one, and since some of the terms are so game specific, it would be hard to put it all in one. How about just start asking and we'll start answering?

I've found this site to be extremely valuable to become familiar with the various competing sports. While it isn't one stop shopping, it is a good source to build up your understanding of the various alternatives out there.

This article in particular may "jump start" your knowledge.
