Are they only single caliber friendly ?

I would like a .44 Mag, but can you shoot .44 spec. in them ?
( not the ruger , I read the on line manual)

also :
how cool would a .44 mag revolver carbine be ?
six shot ,driiled and tapped,
;)

thanks in advance

Yes. My Marlin 1894C fires .357 mag leverguns fire .38spl just fine and according to their web site the .44 mag equivalent also fires .44spl with no problems. I suspect the Winchesters et al. are quite capable of the same.

My Marlin Cowboy 44mg/spl will feed specials only if they are made long enough, 200gr won't feed so I use a 230rn and it works OK.

My little Rossi "Trapper" carbine feeds .357s and .38 Spls. just fine. Anything but flush-seated WCs in either case size.

Personally, while the idea of a revolving carbine has some curio value, you might find the reality a bit less fun. IIRC, most if not all of the currently made "replicas", cap and ball or cartridge, are based upon the old Remington design. While I'm sure that they're entirely adequate for use with standard pressure loads in whatever caliber for which they're chambered by the manufacturer, that top strap probably shouldn't get any new holes in it. If you want optics, get a conventional LA carbine.

Should you choose to get one of the revolving carbines, ALWAYS wear good shooting glasses and NEVER fire it with any portion of your off-hand or arm forward of the cylinder. Flash burns and imbedded powder/bullet fragments aren't any fun whatsoever. Chainfires with C&B revolvers may be rare, given proper loading precautions but they DO happen. Personally, I'd rather order "three fingers of Redeye" out of choice, but that's just me

My Winchester Trapper will handle 44mags or specs with no problem. Very high fun factor too!

and what kind of accurcy should I expect ?
( I know it dedends on the loads etc)

I am asking is
6" groups at a hundred yards a reasonable expectation for Win. white box ammo ?

Easy; in my experience (Marlin 1894c, 357), 3" groups are not rare or hard (if I have an optic on it; I'm not that accurate with the aperature I have on it--though also not that much worse).
