Best deal you got on a gun?

I'd have to say for me it was when I traded my Norinco MAK-90, that I had got for $100 plus a Ruger 10/22T, and my Ruger Vaquero .45LC, that I paid $250 for used,........for a brand new Bushmaster XM15E2S 16" carbine.

Granted I had to wait about 7 freaking months to get the rifle since I ordered it about 3 days before 9/11 and once that hit supplies got VERY scarce. But still I'd say it was well worth the wait. :D

Traded some military surplus 24 volt water activated batteries I bought as scrap
for one underfolder and one fixed stock AK both new in box, traded a couple more for 6 extra mags and ammo. (Norinco mags were the only you could get at the time, $19.00 each.) Of course this wasin the early 80's:banghead:

About 4 years ago, I purchased (or thought) a Smith and Wesson 915 through Auction Arms from a large dealer in Las Vegas...Superpawn. Well, a couple weeks after sending the money along with the FFL for transfer...no gun!

So, I called to see what the deal was. The said they accidentally sold my 915. They offered me a refund or a pick of one of two guns: S&W Sigma in 9mm, or an S&W 5906 Stainless.

I chose the 5906 and paid $220.00, the amount I was supposed to pay for the 915

Good Deal on my part!

Best deal: Traded a Ruger Single-Six straight up for a LN S&W K-frame .38 spl and Bianchi holster. :)

Worst deal: sold a "pre-ban" Mini-14 with folding stock (metal, not the crappy plastic one), flashhider, vent cover and couple of 30-rounders for $225. :(

Early '80's. M1 Garand. Winchester. Early model with the single slot gas plug.

Advertised in paper for $225. Ad said "Old rifle." Called and went to check it out. Paid for it. Started to leave.

Guy calls me back. Says, "Hey, you might as well take this stuff."

Stuff: Bayonet, bandoliers, oiler, combo tool, 200 rds of ammo (in enbloc clips), flash hider, manual.

Should have kept it.

Found a like new Bulgarian SA-93 for $300 in a pawn shop. Bought it, shot it a couple of times and turned it over for $550.

Best price on a gun ever was $65 for a Model 96 Swedish Mauser. That included all tax, fees and shipping. Very nice rifle.

I paid $80 for a MINT Series 70 9mm Combat Commander with 3 clips and 500 rounds of hollow point ammo that I bought from a family friend. He knew the value and when I asked him what he wanted for it he said whatever I had on me....which was $80!

Well, the deal went like this - I bought a glenfield model 60 for $10.00.It just needed a little cleaning.I traded it for a NIB Savage bolt action .17HMR that a guy won in a raffle.I then traded the Savage for a minty Winchester model 1903 .22 automatic with a very rare original silencer adapter with the even more rare thread collor still on it. A collector at the Ohio Gun Collector show offered me $1000.00 for it.I said - NOPE this ones a keeper:what: .

Probably this'un here... $120.00, and I love it even though I usually hate sporterized C & Rs. (I guess that makes it a guilty pleasure ;) ) It's a 1919 Carl Gustaf Swede Mauser with a ~17-18" barrel that's been perfectly (AFAICT) re-crowned. :)

I went into a Pawn n' Gun in Hickory, NC some time ~ 98 looking for nothing in general and saw a Kahr K9 with the unbelievable price tag of $199 . I knew it couldn't be right but I asked the older guy working the counter if that was the tag for it and he gave me a gruff " well that's what it says isn't it ? " that ordinarily would have sent me packing but instead had me going to straight to the register ! I have to assume that there was either a big screwup and it was mismarked / mistaken for another gun or if since they were relatively new and uncommon at the time , they might've thought it was just some junk gun . I really don't care coz I got a Kahr for $212 :neener:

Greeting's All-

While I've gotten many "good deals" on firearms; last week
I got the deal of a lifetime. As I stated in another thread, a
very dear friend of mine (and fellow THR) member gave me
a NIB WWII Springfield "GI" MIL-SPEC .45 ACP. It arrived
at my dealer last Thursday; whereas I took possession of
it. Got a chance to shoot it a little bit on Saturday (7/3),
and I'm here to tell you this gun is awesome.

Just goes to show you that there still are some mighty fine
persons left in this old world! Sorry, but out of respect I
will not divulge this gentlemans idenity; but he is a well
respected member here, as well as other forums.

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

In 1972 I bought a Weatherby Patrician 12 gauge pump for around $150. In 1977 I traded it for an 1865 Spencer with a Stabler Cutoff. Today the Weatherby is probably still worth about $150. The Spencer is worth $2200.

Guy I used to work with going to get married to a woman(can't call her a lady) with a 4-year old son. She told him he was going to have to get rid of his guns before she moved in.

It was two good deals for me...I got a H&K USPf in .40 S&W for $200.

Also, it got me to discuss guns seriously with my then girlfriend before making her my fiance and wife.
