Carry Freedom Arms .454 as a 4-shooter?

The F/A web-site says that the model 83 has a "manual sliding-bar safety". Is this different from Ruger's transfer-bar system? Can you safely carry a F/A .454 with all 5 chambers loaded or with only 4 and the hammer down on an empty chamber?
What about their mid-sized 5-shot .45 Colt model 97's?

As someone who just visited their website, the 97 has a transfer bar system.
I will assume the 83 sliding bar means that the hammer is blocked from contacting the round, but only when you manually slide it into place. Therefore, it is safe to carry w/ 5 rounds, but not idiot-proof. If you forget, you might be missing half your foot or worse.
