I'm looking to buy a winchester 94 Texas Ranger commemorative 30-30 carbine. Does anyone know how many were made and what the price would be for one? Thanks, Ian

Hi Ian,
My price guides are out of date by several years,so I won't quote prices from it. And Commemoratives fluctuate a lot depending on market.
But,the quantity made is listed as 4,850 in 1974.
I hope this helps a little,
Robert.

Info central for commemorative arms is Cherry's.
http://www.cherrys.com/
They list them by issue date, price, and estimated current value.

I was just at the Cherry's site, and looked up current value of the Texas Ranger M1894. I bought two of these when they first came out - - One for each son.
A total of 5000 were made in the 1974 issue - - 4850 as "standard" - - Nice wood, old style stock and sights, with inlaid metal Ranger badge in stock, special serial number range, and a special box. They sold for $129.95 and Cherry's currently values them at 695.
Another 150 were made up in the "Presentation grade," selling then for $1,000, and now valued at $2,750. These had extra-fancy checked wood stocks and some engraving, and came in a fitted luggage type case with lucite-encased Ranger badge and a suitably engraved brass plate. Illustrations available at the Cherry's site. See:

The entire issue was to be sold only in Texas, but of course, many were shipped out of state, at a premium. Previous Winchester commerative model 1894s were all the usual "post-1964" pattern, and frankly, sort of undistinguished as to quality control. The Ranger Commerative was the first (?) of the "recovery" 1894s, of far higher quality than those built 1964--1974, and most all the '94s since then reflect this higher quality.
Cherry's does NOT have any Ranger cmmerative Winchesters in stock, according to the web site. You might want to get a copy of Gun List and check there.
Best of luck,
Johnny

I currently own a limited edition Texas Ranger Commerative 30-30 that was given to my father on the day of the Grand Opening of the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame in Waco, Texas. My 30-30, in a walnut case indicates #16 of 150 limited edition carbines. I also own the 357 and Bowie knife in a walnut case that was also given to my father that day. In addition, my dad bought the Winchester Limited Edition 30-30 and Twin Colt BB guns.
Any input on what I got.
Thanks,
Rusty
