Here we go again. Another editor who doesn't understand that complying with the law isn't illegal. To this idiot it's "expoiting a loophole."

The metaphor has been used before, but if I drive 64 miles per hour in a 65 MPH zone, am I "exploiting a loophole" to avoid getting a speeding citation? How is that different from building a rifle with no flash suppressor if the law says you can't build a rifle with a flash suppressor? I thought legal behavior was legal behavior, but I suppose that mode of thinking is archaic.

parse what GWB said:

then-presidential candidate George W. Bush declared, "It makes no sense for assault weapons to be around our society."

Exactly right. They should have let him finish. The next sentence would say"Instead, these valuable weapons against tyranny should be fully deployed in the hands of the American people".:neener:

Legal behavior is legal behavior unless you're trying to exercise all your civil rights in these modern socialist times.

I always find it funny in these articles that they whine about how the sunset of the AWB will flood the streets with evil "assault weapons", but at the same time they acknowledge that with a few cosmetic changes the same guns are being legally sold. So, if these "assault weapons" have been available for the last ten years what is the big deal?

I am embarrassed by that newspaper.

That article is just one of many reasons that I don't have that liberal rag delivered to my house everyday!!!! :cuss: :banghead: :cuss:

That's a dangerous mistake. Bush was absolutely right when he told voters that assault weapons have no place in American society. These military-style weapons, with rapid-fire capabilities and large-capacity magazines capable of holding dozens of rounds of ammunition, are not hunting or sporting weapons. They are designed for just one thing: shooting people.

Errr... Last time I looked up "Home Defense", my biggest threat was probably not the neighbor's dog, but some perp in a ski mask trying to an in-home invasion.. So of COURSE I want something to shoot him with.. Otherwise, what am I suppose to do, hand over the goods and ask if he takes his coffee with sugar or no sugar?

My friends in Oregon won't allow that liberal rag into their house, and now I understand why.

Word of warning to Oregon, it's on its way to being the second California :barf:

Or is it already? Are we there yet, are we there yet?

Already been there for years now. E.g., take a look at the property prices, and the traffic. :cuss:

It's still reasonable on this side of Oregon... :uhoh:

We're not there yet, ;) ;) .. I can still go down to my local HK peddler and buy all the glorious stuff that neither you (while in Taiwan) or Skunk (in Socal) can purchase. :neener:

Oregon is one of those states where the metro areas (Portland, Eugene) run the state (just look at the blue/red map for the presidential vote).

But, we here in Eugene try to make it harder for the libs to take power over the state.

Sadly, portland runs the state (like NYC runs NY, which is actually a beautiful state once you're out of the city).

Oregon is not so bad when it comes to gun laws, you get most of the bad stuff from portland and portland only. Eugene is about 50/50 when it comes to libs and conservatives.

If we could just get Washington to annex portland, we'd be alot better off :D.

Oregon gun laws are very good...I'm waiting for that shoe to drop, but the libs are too busy trying to get their grubby hands on more of my pathetic paycheck to (try) to take my guns right now. LAR-15, that's what you get for reading the Oregonian.:barf:

It makes me feel better when in enemy territory to have my Lib repellant (CCW) on at all times.;)
