IL S&W 500 ban?

I was in a local gun shop yesterday (Maxon Shooters Supply in Des Plaines, IL), when the owner mentioned that Gov. Howdy Doody was trying to get the .50 cal. handgun banned.
Has anyone heard anything about this?

Nothing specific about that handgun. There have been a couple of attempts to get a .50-cal ban passed (among a bill with multiple semi-auto restrictions). The last version of it tried to pull shotguns and muzzleloaders out of the language. I don't believe this bill is currently active...maybe Don Gwinn or others could shed some light.
