PVC pipe (on hand)
Plumber's putty* (that clay-like epoxy stuff--Lowe's, $5)
Cheap mouse pad (Wal*Mart, $2)
Clear epoxy (on hand)
Masking tape (to protect the stock while molding the putty--on hand)
Black spray paint (on hand)
And one evening (Sometimes time is money, but not tonight.)

It's form-fitted to the comb. Still need to decide whether I want to velcro it or actually screw it into the stock. As-is, it gives me 1/2" of lift; velcro would add more, but it seems to be fine right now. Frankly, I'm a little impressed.

*This stuff is pretty amazing. A friend uses it to make all sorts of nifty parts, like an extended mag release for his 10/22, plus various bits like mounting points and handguard additions to his AirSoft rifles. And it's fun to play with, too.

That home grown comb riser looks better than what came on my HK SL8.

Gonna bring it out to Ridgecrest later this month?

Ingenuity triumphs.

I've built up a few combs. Some were on rifles to get old style stocks usable with scopes. Others were on shotguns, and that was to raise POI.

The only caveat I have here is this looks like it changes the cast. IOW, it moves the eye to the left, and possibly hinders fast acquisition. If it doesn't, you're set.

Guys: I'll bling--I mean, bring it.

Dave: It seems to work fine. I originally intended to replicate the shape of the comb, but it didn't work out that way in the heat of development. Maybe the next one... :) Hope you're feeling better!

I am better, thanks.

Nice thing about a project like this, there's little irreversibility in it. Play with it until it's right.

Suggestion, once you get it right, measure it and write down the measurements. Might save some work later on...
