The problem: Ghost ring sights on my Mossberg 500 sat up too high for my normal cheek weld.

The solution: Adjust-A-Comb™ hydraulic comb riser. Mini air tank contained in the hollow stock, refillable via fitting in recoil pad. Full 1.5" rise, infinitely adjustable via flush-mounted pressure switch on stock.

And they thought I wasn't serious about putting hydraulics in a shotgun stock. I showed them.

Sounds like a nifty idea, but wouldn't something like a worm gear system be a bit easier to produce?

This is America, when do we ever care about "easier to produce?"

Its all about the gadgets.

You've probably given away an idea that will show up in high ticket shotguns and rifles one of these days. If it can be done, somebody will try to turn it into a marketing edge.

Yeah, I probably should have called Inventors' Idea Warehouse or whoever those guys are. Nah, I'm sure someone's already working on it. It's what I call the "idea pool": an idea floats around and several people pick up on it. One or two actually have the wherewithal to make something of it. That's why we get similar-themed movies in threes. :)

Erm.. A mini air tank would make it a "pneumatic" riser, not hydraulic, wouldn't it? If it used oil or some other liquid, it'd be hydraulic...

Or does the term "hydraulic" only require its pressure-bearing medium to be a fluid, not just a liquid (for the record, 'fluid' describes both gases and liquids)?
