...and had some trouble finding conclusive results. What do you all think I should use in my Beretta Tomcat? FMJ or JHP? I've had good results with winchester usa 71gr. FMJ rounds, but I've heard that silvertips are the only thing to use. Should I opt for penetration? Suggestions and opinions?

From everything that I've read over the years, the 32 ACP doesn't penetrate deeply and expand well at the same time. Since I believe that penetration is (after shot location) the most important factor in putting the bad guy out of action I'd opt for a FMJ load in this caliber. I'd also study the manufacturers' data as European loads seem hotter velocity-wise compared to American loads.

I, too, would suggest FMJ for their penetration, AND I'd be thinking "contact weapon"......

(you know, in the ear, up against the throat/spine/temple, etc)

Agreed. From what I've read, if the .32acp bullet expand, its not gonna penetrate enough.

To quote Reba in "Tremors", "Go for penetration!".
