Adding rifle sights?

My 870p came with a 20" IC barrel with a plain bead. I've since added a 28" vent rib LC barrel with choke tubes for shooting stuff that flies around (and like it very much; it balances beautifully for me) and had the stock lengthened and some drop added (obviously I lack hoplological perspicacity; I mean the smith added a wedge to the pad to get my eye looking down the barrel properly). So, I'm delighted with everything. But.

I think I want rifle sights on my 20" barrel. Mostly because I find shooting slugs vastly entertaining (if a mite punishing) and want to push my ability to shoot them as well as the gun is able. Now I know that Dave has reiterated numerous times that a bead is really good enough out to the range most slugs are needed and effective, most of the time, and I don't doubt his word. But.

I wonder if any of you wise ones can tell me; just how hard would it be to put rifle sights on, and where would a fella get them? I'd rather not put anything on the receiver (e.g., aperture or ghost ring), because this is my only shotgun, and one of the reasons I opted for it was the versatility that a mere barrel change could give me. So I'm just talking about the straightforward rifle sights like Remington puts on; can I get those and put them on, and how would I do it? Or, is there an aftermarket supplier of something suitable? Thanks for your help, all.

Most of the aftermarket rifle sights are gunsmith install on your barrel and include something on the receiver. Your best bet is to purchase a 18" rifle sighted barrel for your 870. I have one brand new I might trade for your bead barrel if you email me. Maybe someone else has some other options but I think you are fairly limited in the aftermarket if you want to keep stuff off of your receiver.

By the time you'd have the sights put on, you'll spend very close to what a new 20" barrel with rifle sights and choke tubes will cost you. Unless you really are attached to that barrel for some reason, I'd just get a new one.

TTBOMK, they do not make a 18" barrel with RS.

If you do decide to convert your present barrel, Williams or Lyman open sights can be installed by any competent smith.

There are some clamp-on types with fiber optic dots that I have seen, aimed at turkey hunters I think. They are around $60 and a home install type. They must work OK as they come on several guns from the manufacturer. I think they are made by Tru-Glow.
