I'm considering applying for a C + R.

I'll be buying for myself, not reselling (weapons come in, but the NEVER go out...), and have only a couple of weapons in mind, CZ-52 and M1 carbine, although such things do tend to go to the extreme.

Any particular reasons I shouldn't?

Responses from the "extreme fringe" are invited....

No reason not to. The discounts from Brownell's, Midway, CDNN alone are worth more than the price of the ticket. Plus the great flyers and catalogs that find you.

It'll save you the cost of the license the first time you buy something. The online discounts (Brownells, MidwayUSA, etc) are great.

Plus it's just really cool to have UPS leave a new SKS on your doorstep :)

Yes, the discounts alone are worth the $30.

You seem to have the basic rule in mind already, so no worries there.

Now, you might want to consider buying Mosin Nagants of all colors, a M59/66 Yugo SKS, a K98 Mauser, a Swiss K-31 carbine, Nagant Revolver with adaptive cylinder. Jump on any change you can to acquire a Russian and/or Eastern German Makarov. Lots of other interesting choices out there.

Go for it.

only one ... you will end up buying more then the CZ52 and M1 ... you will find yourself spending a lot more on guns and accessories (since you get discounts) then you do now.

If you're married ... expect to spend a little time on the couch.

Thanks all for the responses.

I've got a feeling that this isn't a good idea, not only 'cause of the money side, since I think there might be an audit problem.

Still, all things considered, I'll wander down and do the local CoP bit tomorrow...
Simply can't resist, although I suspec I should.

As for the rest...

Am married: sleeping on the couch isn't all that bad if you start with her there...

since I think there might be an audit problem. Uh, what's up with that Dude? All you have to do is keep a bound book in the format prescribed by the BATMen, and you'll not have to fear an audit. Audits can happen, but rarely do, I believe.

I'll be buying for myself, not reselling That's very important to keep in mind; a C&R FFL is not a permit to do business, except incidental to improving your collection. Easy way to get busted if you were to start dealing with a C&R. :scrutiny:
