Dan Wesson .357mag with 4" under-cut barrel

They can be found used for well under $250 and one would be hard pressed to find a more robust&accurate design.............. not to mention the whole interchange-a-bility thing (I just picked up a 2" barrel/shroud for $25)

If I could only own ONE (1) Revolver?

Dan Wesson 15-2. Obvious reasons, .357/.38 thing, interchangable barrels, grips...

Its pretty darned accurate. The blue(ing) is so deep and so black it looks like black chrome.

And its a little off the beaten path.

Or maybe the old Ruger Single Six w/ both cylinders, .22 lr and .22 WMR.

But probably, the DW

I immediately thought, NO doubt, I already have it. The 4" S&W M24. I don't hunt Kodiaks or Polar bears, so this will do anything I want. And do it with less recoil than my much loved .357's.....

Then I started reading all the previous posts. Duhhh. Any of a couple different S&W's, like a 640 or 65LS, would be just fine. So would the snub Speed Six. And hey, if I can't have my 4" M24, then I guess I'd settle ;) for a 4" M29. And the Dan Wesson thing makes a lot of sense too. And I don't know if I could give up a 3.5" S&W .357. Having a good Python would be good as well.....

I dunno, I dunno.......

4" Model 29. Elmer Keith was right.

In fact, I bought one earlier today at a gun show, a good old pin barrel/recessed chamber Model 29-2. Great shooter.

Go with the Smith 629 Mtn Gun or 4" regular 629
44mag either way most likely shoot 44 Spcls most of the time with the option to go heavy...just can't beat N Frame Smiths.

While I like my 6" S&W 586 better, if I could only keep one it would be my 3" S&W 65LS. The barrel is long enough for a good sight radius, the K-frame will hold up to the kind of use I put it through (mostly .38s and +Ps, occasional magnums for fun) and should I ever end up in a CCW situation (when/if I move or MD changes its CCW laws) it will be a far better CCW.

I would also be happy to consider any 2 1/2-4" K-frame (or equivelent) .357mag. I hope to have a shorter barreled L-frame and/or GP100 within the next year or so, once I do I'll know better if it would be almost as good for carry possibilities and general use, but my guess is it will be a bit big for an only revolver.

Might change when I pick up my 586 4" from the shop. I am going to have the under lig milled off to look similar to the 19

It's a 7.5" magnaported Redhawk in a 44mag. I'm sure there are mucho better revolvers out there, but this one suits me just fuine. It's a deer killin' machine.

That would not be a happy situation but my choice would be a Ruger GP-100, four inch, fixed sight, short underlug .357 in stainless steel. It would not be the best in any one category, probably, but would cover more bases very well than anything else (for me). I have one and it is my favorite revolver.

I'm sure I could live with my 686 but all being equal, I really like the Model 19. Also fancy the Model 27s.

My favorite revolver is my Dan Wesson 22lr on a 357 Mag frame but wouldn't choose it as my only handgun.

Unfair question!

I'd be tempted to say my old Colt new service 1917 Army in 45 acp, but a 5.5 inch 44 mag vaquero would be more versatile.
