Assault Weapon Ban Question

I have been thinking about something that has not been addressed concerning post AWB weapons. I have 2 AR-15s. One is preban the other is post ban. I would assume that if the AWB does expire then the post ban AR-15 would no longer be subject to the post ban leagle criteria as we know them today? This means I could intsall a collapsible stock, etc. on my post ban rifle and not have to worry about the leagle implications it might have had before the AWB sunset? More or less there will no longer be any post ban weapons? I hope this made sense.

Thanks,

Brazos

Yes, that's true. There will be no "pre-ban" and "post ban". It's your gun, you can (finally!) do what you want with it.

Unless of course, you live in a state with a permanent ban in place.

not entirely correct. american made weapons will have less restrictions however foreign manufactured items will still be restricted to laws the AWB sunset does not take out.

we will still have preban/postban but they will take new meanings.

86 preban anyone?

believe Bush Sr passed a sporting law then we have the 86 ban. import laws also.

The '86 ban is the ban on new machineguns.

The '89 ban is the ban on importing non-sporting firearms (ie they changed the definition of what is and isn't sporting). There is however, a way around this ban.

MD doesn't have a state ban, it was defeated in the legislature this year

However certain guns like uzis and MAC10's are on a restricted list and can't be imported.
