I went out to the range Sunday to try out the new USGI sights on my Polytech M14. The outside temp. was about 95, not much wind. After getting zeroed, my buddy said he was ready to spot for me. Here's the set-up we were using: 7x binoculars, the rifle rest was a head rest from a Saturd, a DPS man-sized target, and el cheapo Australian ball ammo. 1st shot- scalped him. 2nd shot- brow line. 3rd shot- my buddy couldn't tell. 4th shot- couldn't tell. 5th shot-2 inches right of 2nd shot. So we walk down range to check it all out. The brow line shot had 2 other holes right around it. I took a dime out of my pocket and it covered all 3 of the centers of the holes. We couldn't believe it! How's that for Chicom crap?! I've never even cleaned this rifle.
I challenge anyone with their box-stock M1A or other M14 to do the same.
Any other story tellers out there? C'mon back.

Kenny

Dude! Ihave a Polytech I paid $375. for and a standard SA M-1A that I bought new for $1275. I won't say that the M-14 will outshoot the M-1A, but there isn't two bits difference in the groups they shoot!!! If I could find another one I'd sell the SA and buy it and lots of ammo. As for Aussie ammo I regularly shoot 1 to 2 inch groups at 100 M, it's really good stuff.

I really hope that these are allowed to be imported again. Also, if Polytech can make an M-14, why not an M-1?

I do too, but I doubt I'll happen. Brand new Norinco M14's are selling for $300 U.S. in Canada.

You did not say how far away the target was.

If you are gonna challenge other box-stock M1A owners to a shooting contest, you need to say how far.

I am happy you are enjoying your M14. Sounds like a winner.
I read a little bit about a Chinese M14 that Fred of Fred's M14 stocks had. He had a number of issues with it, but he said it was a good shooter.

I have to agree about your challenge: You don't mention how far you were shooting. You also fired a five shot group, then took the best three shots out of the five shot group. Never the less, It is good to hear that you are having fun.

OK fellas, you are right. I failed to mention the distance when I made the challenge. So the distance was 25yds. Sorry I left this most important fact out when I made the thread.

Wow...I was hoping to get at least SOME kind of a response...

Seriously now, range was the standard 100yds. I did indeed take the best 3 shots from the 5 shot group. The 1st shot was high so i brought down the front of the rifle. Then 3 shots in a dime, then the 5th shot, the flier.

Now, having set the record straight...............any takers?
