Anyone got a source for a good condition MN 91/30 dog collar sling? I just chucked the one that came with the rifle, it was moldy and reeked.:(
I kinda like it "naked" but I know there will come a time when I want a sling...
And, I shot it for the first time last weekend. Quite a "kick" but not as bad
as I expected. Quite accurate too.
Breeze to clean. I expected the bolt to be cruddy (80 rds) but it was very clean. Chamber was better than I expected, too. (Wolf 148 gr FMJ and S&B 180 gr FMJ).
All in all, well worth 100 bucks!

... Third item from the bottom. I got the M44 sling the other week and it seems like it's in good shape. It's not an original IIRC. The ones for the 91/30 look original.

I've gotten good ones from Mark Kubes (google him). Cheap, too.

When I got my 91/30 (a 1931 Izzy) the sling was in excellent condition. Probably not a WWII era sling but the dog collars are a bit worn and add a nice look to the rifle.
About all I can handle is 40 rounds before I have to take a break or the shoulder will feel like it fell off  I got a Pachmeyer slip-on pad and it helps a bunch.

Hehehe. . . same here, but I like to put a positive spin on it. I just say "Since I know I will only be good for about 45 rounds in one day, I take special care with each shot and never waste one. . ." :D
greyhound Congrats on the rifle and I hope you find a nice sling for it. For carry slings I think the "dog collars" are pretty cool.
