I've got a new holster idea. Know anyone that could make a prototype?

After getting my P-3AT, I've come up with a great holster idea. I'm looking for someone that could make one up in "ballistic nylon" or Kydex (sp?)
I'd love to turn this into a money making adventure, since the kel-tec .380 is SO popular now.

If you want to do it in Kydex, why not do it yourself? All it takes is a $10 toaster oven and some kydex. Kydex is cheap. There's like $5 of Kydex in a $60 holster.

techbrute nailed it...get yourself some a sheet of kydex and a couple of rivets and your ready to go!!....After you ruin the first sheet or 2 you will get the hand of it..and since a SQ.FT of Kydex is only $5.65 or so plus s/h you can ruin several sheets and STILL save yourself some money..

Designing and crafting your own holster is a definite ego boost IMHO...Being to poor to buy my own, I decided to make one myself, and 2 years later I am doing it for a living..:D

You know what would be neat? A week long class on leather/synthetic working culminating in the attendants making personal holsters for their own carry gun/s.

That would be completely awesome.

OK, So I go out and buy some Kydex and a toaster oven. Now what do I do with them?
Can anyone lead me to an instructional website where I can learn to use these two items together without fear of burning my house down?

Scott,
really the next step is relatively simple...Find a design you like or use your own design and make it out of kydex...remember to leave enough room for the holster to "click" into the kydex...Only fit it at the ejection port and the trigger guard...It will take ya awhile.. :D

Scott,

It sounds like you heat the Kydex in your toaster oven then pull it out and form it while it is pliable.

Shaping it to what you want is the hard part probably.

I wouldn't advise sticking your gun in the oven hoping the kydex forms it self around the gun.

ahhh yea what THE HORSE said:D

Forming it is the easy part as well as the most daunting...you heat the kydex to form it...having an aluminum dummy comes in handy for this
