Im looking into a pdw style gun. I.E. OA-96, cobray 9mm/45 uzilookalike etc, im looking into these because of a storage space space issue and because i dont want to pay an arm and a leg for 30 round glock mags, although i may go that route.
Any thoughts? caliber suggestions? makes/models? lemme know.

Those 'uzilookalike' Cobrays are actually MAC copies. You can get them in .380, 9mm and .45acp. Pretty crude firearms, but they work.
A more quality option would be an actual Uzi (semi) registered as an SBR in your favorite caliber: 9mm, .40 S&W, 10mm, .45 ACP. Caliber conversions are as simple as a mag changes, unscrewing the barrel nut and popping in a new barrel (standard breakdown, no gunsmith needed) and in the case of the .45, adding a new bolt. They can be fairly accurate, have many more options, and are better made. Plus, they have adjustable sites, not some welded peice of metal with a hole in it (ala Cobray).

Vector is selling full-size models for $595 plus shipping atm. After the AWB sunsets you can throw on a folding stock and be done with it. They have Mini Uzi carbines as well but they're $950, and you'll have a harder time finding parts and accessories. Mags are dirt cheap and you can get grease gun conversions for .45 models. If you can find one, they also made an Uzi 'pistol' in .45 which is basicly a Micro Uzi without a stock. Those with normal capacity mags would make an excellent PDW following you're criteria.

Ineed, PDW does stand for Personell Defense Weapon. Some examples are the ruger p-90, the uzi are the H&K MP-5 (the reallllly short one).

slow into action. They have all the limitations of a more amenable pistol (for ccw) and none of the advantages of a good carbine.

1) Yes, PDW stands for "Personal Defense Weapon."
2) The really short Mp5 is the Mp5K.
Damn, I want one! :)

Im not planning to carry the thing (unless the situation calls for it of course, doubt it ever will) like i said its more of a space issue, id like a assault weapon of some kind and because i dont have room for an AR this would be a thing worth checking into. Ive got my glock for Carry use but the little bugger lacks the capacity id want if we ever had a SHTF senario, 10 rounds is not a lot however 30 is. And it would make a good fun gun. the glock mags are somthing like 120$ a piece, i think id have some issues with dumping a hundred bucks on the ground every time my mag went dry, again, in a shtf senario. however i wouldnt cry to much at losing 20$ bucks dropping a mag out of a cobray or losing the weapon itself.

You could get an M17S. If 30" is still too long you can have it shortened to the legal limit, IIRC that would be 26"? Or is it 24" for a rifle?
If that's still too big then I'd say go with a more powerful handgun. The Desert Eagle was developed for the roll of "good enough" if they couldn't get a carbine to fit. I'd recommend the .357 Mag version. 9 rounds and the gun comes back on target like a .22 auto.
If you just want a bullet hose and can wait just get the 30+ round Glock mags after the AWB sunset. If the ban gets replaced then look at other options.
I could see a machine pistol being fun but in semi-auto I'd rather have a gun made to a quality level, not down to a price point for mass production.
