hey all.
this such an awesome site. i dont post to often becuase you all have way more knowledge then i think ill ever have. my question is i may be moving from california to arizona next year for school (uti deisel program) and i was wondering if i buy say an AR 15 or an AK47 or something like that . would i be able to bring with me if i moved back to california? if so what would i have to do legally ,mabe declare it with the CHP? any help will be appreciated.

No. You cannot import an AR-15, AK-47, or any other firearm classified as an 'assault rifle', into California under current California state law. In order to legally own an AR-15, AK-47, or other 'assault rifle', in the State of California, it must have been registered as an 'assault rifle' with the state DoJ by January 23, 2001.

You'd have to become a retired police officer or a prop-master for a motion picture company. Otherwise, there's no legal way to bring an assault rifle into CA.
