I want to buy a revolver from a local FFL.He adds a $20 for doing the background check, this in addition to the state fee.Is this common?I have no problem with the $25 transfer fee he charges. He also wants to charge $35 for shipping, just checked the CDNN website, they charge $10.What charges do these guys usually add? Thanks.

No, that is not the norm. Find another FFL.

The additional background fee is him milking you. He charges $35 shipping because he is either using UPS or FedEx, or he is using USPS and pocketing around $20. CDNN probably has a contract rate worked out with their shippers as to why their rate is so low.
I agree as you should shop around for another dealer.

After reading that, I've only got 3 words coming to mind...FIND ANOTHER DEALER!

So he basically wants $80 to transfer? He can go...himself imo
