Being Brazilian, SA & Taurus have close ties there. The rumor I heard was that Taurus would leave SA alone & visa versa. So, Taurus has a distinctive product line & so does SA & since SA makes a 1911, Taurus would leave them be.

SA buys its components from Imbel not Forjas Taurus, they're completely different companies. Taurus figured out that introducing a 1911 into a crowded market probably isn't a good idea. Taurus has a lost a lot of business because of the Millenium flap. Probably smart of them to concentrate on rebuilding their market share with known products.

Probably makes a lot of sense--there are a lot of 1911's out there. Unless they could make one significantly better or cheaper, there's no point.
