i am adding a millet red dot.the 30mm sp-2 model.am sending ruger back the supplied 1"rings for the 30mm ones.the question i have is do i also have to send back the base for the extended base to fit the millet redot?

just wondering if anyone had any prior experience with this.my hours dont permit me to call them during normal business hours.i went ahead and took a chance,sending both back(rings and base)

I didnt even bother with Ruger. The Millet comes with rings I just ordered a Clark Weaver Base for the Mark 2 Its a simple bolt on ,it uses existing tapped holes and you can leave your rear sight on.:)

Weigand also makes a weaver base. I think it is about $15. The Ruger 30mm will fit the original base you have. I was not too impressed with either the Ruger rings or the base. Have gone back to shooting open sights.

No you don't have to. The base is the same Ruger universal mount.

I've done this twice with Rugers I own. I seem to recall that they'll let you swap out ring sizes for $5 P&H fee. Make sure that they send you back a base.
