Gun show rolled into town today. I was in the market for a handgun (first one) so I figured I'd go take a look around. Amist a sea of Glocks, Walthers, S&Ws, H&Ks and whatnot, a P239 caught my eye...been searching the forums, haven't seen many negatives about 'em. Pointed good to me, all the buttons and levers were in the right place...the mag release on a Glock didn't sit well with me, USPs felt overly big and bulky.

So I am now the proud owner of a Sig P239 in .40 :D Hoping to get out tomorrow and see what she'll do.

I doubt you'll be disappointed by it. I have a 239 in 9mm that has been a great gun, in fact it's tucked into a Comp Tac holster on my hip right now. If you carry you'll quickly come to appriciate the 239 for it's size.

Congrats on the new gun.

Conga-rats! :)

The P239 is one of the best CCW pistols on the market...accurate, reliable, and easy to tote.

They're so cute and sad when they are strays. :D
Great gun, you will be happy together, but remember to feed and water your new pet. ;)

I see only one thing negative about your purchase...it's all downhill from now on.

[my everyday carry is a P239/.357SIG]

Let us know how you like it at the range. And start saving money for that factory .357SIG barrel...it will drop right in.

The thing to remember with those stray SIGs....
1. Exercise them. Run 'em hard and fast.
2. Give it a snuggly place to rest at your side. Cowhide is nice.
3. Feed 'em a good healthy diet. Vary the meals until you find one dish that makes it really happy.
4. Make sure it helps you see in the dark....nitesites.
5. Keep it's insides nice and oily, and give it's coat a healthy sheen.

Enjoy your new pal! But be warned, you'll want more.:D

Well, threw about 200 rounds down range today. Wasn't shooting for accuracy or anything, just to see how it'd do. I had a couple of instances where the slide wouldn't go all the way back into battery after a round was fired, although I suspect this to be my fault or the ammo's fault, I was using cheapy 180 gr FMJs.

Field stripping and cleaning was a breeze, a definite plus, the ammo I was using wasn't too dirty apparently, took a couple swabs with a patch and Hoppe's #9 to get a nice, shiny clean bore.

Otherwise, the gun performed flawlessly, I can't really find any faults. Next weekend I'll try some different ammo, ball and HPs and start shooting for accuracy. Nightsights are next on the order...and BTW, how much are those .357 Sig barrels going for?

So far, I like. :D
