Moore ‘N Moore Sporting Clays, July 17, 2004

Moore ‘N Moore Sporting Clays is located in San Fernando, CA just off the “210”, east of the “5” freeway. If you live in LA, Orange or Ventura County, this is THE place to shoot.

They’re in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains so the only flat part of the course is the parking lot. Lots of up hill or out in the valley shots. It’s truly a scenic place to shoot.

They hold their monthly registered shoot on the second Saturday of every month. In addition, they hold a Lewis Class fun shoot once a month too. It’s called CLUB LEAD and the dates change, so give them a call for the next one.

I shot the monthly registered shoot yesterday, and man what a blast. Super friendly people, challenging targets and lunch. Now when I say lunch, I’m not talking burgers. I mean they rotate between Prime Rib, Tri-tip or Pork roast. Yesterday we were supposed to have bbq’d pork ribs, but unfortunately we had to suffer with perfectly grilled New York strip steaks. :)

At their Registered shoot we shot 20 stations. Each one of 10 stations has 2 or 3 shooting positions. You may shoot 5 from 10a and 5 from 10b or 6 from 2a and 4 from 2b and so on. They do a nice job of mixing in singles, report pairs and true pairs.

I actually shot the best score of my life yesterday with a 75. I had a great day, hung out with some good friends and had a fantastic lunch.

It would have been a perfect day if the water pump on my truck hadn’t crapped out on me. Luckily my extended warranty expired 10 days ago, so I get to change it myself.

One word about getting there, if you’re going north on the “5” go EAST on the 118. Although Simi Valley is a nice place to visit, it did make me late :)
