Bumps in the Night

I wrote a few lines the other night, let's say I was inspired. Figured the high roaders might appreciate it more than anyone else. Tell me what you think. I'm looking forward to comments/criticism/suggestions.

-Thanks!

When I wake in deepest night
Find my pistol and my light
Check the chamber see the brass
Eyes on front sight center mass
Easy steps I softly creep
Find what woke me from my sleep
Head on swivel open eyes
Round the corners slice the pie
Some folks ask about my gun
“Why not just call nine-one-one?”
I call back without a grin
“Self defense is not a sin”
Sure I’ll call up Johnny Law
Gladly tell him what I saw
But he doesn’t have the time
To stop every single crime
‘Til he does you will see me
With my trusty BHP
Glock or Colt or Smith and Wess
Find the one that suits you best
Mag or nine or forty-five
All are fine for saving lives
So I clear my humble home
Flashlight, pistol, and cell phone
Set back now in their right place
Worried look soon leaves my face
For a breath I wonder why
Some folks do not act as I
Shrug my shoulders, start to sleep
Counting all those blissful sheep

Down the stairs I hear a crash
Grab my handy gat and flash
See a shadow, aim at that,
Holy crud, I shot the cat!

Of the moral I am sure
In two words, it is: Rule Four.

Reminds me of Hilaire Belloc's famous lines about fighting between the British Empire and native tribes:Whatever happens, we have got
The Maxim gun, and they have not!

“Why not just call nine-one-one?”
Can you imagine calling out the cops to find that your cat knocked over a lamp? :D

On the other hand, I ain't goin' down those stairs empty handed!

Or invest in some night vision technology. :neener:

I love my Israeli monocular, so solid it doubles as a rock if I need to hit someone with it.

Where the heck did cat and gat get into the conversation?

I thought it very good, just MHO.

I woke to a thump in the night
I grabbed my CZ and Streamlight
My house I did clear
and then drank a beer
and I then went out like a light

ha HA!!! an RKBA limerick.

There once was a man in the west
Who kept guns so that he might rest
in his house no one snuck
or out would run their luck
As the man put two in their chest

ooh, theres another (although not perfect limerick form)

Not much for poetry, but that was excellent John. I have printed it out and with your permission I will show it around at the next ConTact match....I'm sure it will be appreciated.

There was an attorney named Linus
Who prosecuted felonies heinous.
Whilst working a shooting
Through the boards he went rooting
And now THR is one minus.

In short, what you say here COULD come back to bite you. :what:
