Specifically with a HK compact 40. I am going on a long driving trip and want a comfortable and secure way to reach the gun while being seat-belted .

Not exactly your gun, but a cop buddy uses the Triad for his 45acp G30 when working plain clothes assignments.

He's in & out of his car, moving around. He says it's very secure, and I've never heard any complaints from him about it being uncomfortable.

I'd think just driving your car with it on couldn't be all that bad. (Sorry, I don't have more info).
