Cha-ching!

Admittedly I am, at times, what my father describes as: A Half Bubble Off Plumb, but to my way of thinking, today's original series Kimbers are akin to the 70 series Colts of the early 1980s. In other words:
They've stopped making them and if you ever want one at a reasonable price, you'd better buy them now.
So thinking, the toy account is somewhat more depleted after making arrangements to purchase this specimen.

You know, as I've watched the threads re: Kimbers evolve, I've seen...get the Oregon guns, those were the best; get the 1st run Yonkers guns, those were the best; now it's get the Ser I guns, those are the best.
My feeling...as long as you're happy & the gun works well for ya, you got a deal & a good gun; regardless of where, when, or how it was made.
Congrats on the new Kimber, really! :) ;)

10Ring,
I wouldn't give much credence to 1st year vs last year, but I do much prefer the original action set-up of the Classic series Kimbers (or non-80 series Colts) to any of the mucked-up later versions.
And based on demand and rising prices I'm not alone in this regard.
Saying that, I'm pleased to present the second Classic Kimber, a Pro Carry, to come my way this weekend. :what:

It's a gun. I really don't get you 1911 guys. You get all worked up about the slightest change.
There are hundreds of different 1911s out there that only have only minor differences to each other.
I think 1911s are like Glocks, you either get it or you don't. I have had both 1911s and a Glock and I don't get either of them. Of the two, I would buy the 1911 because it will tend to have a better trigger but I don't go gaga over either.
I go gaga over Kahrs, Firestars, Berettas, BHPs (even though I don't have one), Lugers, Walther PPs, S&W J-frames, and Ithaca shotguns but 1911s? 1911 are cool but I wonder how many people like them for the same reason some people like Glocks? I think some people just like to be in with a certain crowd and like to own a gun that non-gun people will reconize. It is a status symbol to say "I gots me a Glock" or "I got a 1911 .45". It puts you in with a group right away and people will talk to you that otherwise would just ignore you.

I like 1911s because I shoot them better than anything else.

The 1911 is a work of art, one of the
few guns ever made worth framing
just to compare it with a Glock is
blasphemy.:D

9X19 - NICE PRO CARRY! :D The one had the opportunity to shoot was a fine performer & seemed very well made. I've gone the other way in my collection. I sold my last 1911 the other night. I like the 1911, but I just couldn't find one that cost less than $1200 I liked :banghead:

Firestar,
It never occured to me that the mere possession of a firearm would earn me status among "a certain crowd"... but then, I suppose I've forgotten alot of what I learned in high school! http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/strain.gif
By the way:
I go gaga over Kahrs, Firestars, Berettas, BHPs (even though I don't have one), Lugers, Walther PPs, S&W J-frames, and Ithaca shotguns
Ithaca?! Da Crowd said you neeeeeeeed a Benelli! :neener:

OOPS! ;)
Umm I have a Stainless Series I Custom Target. My Gunsmith has a Pro Carry as per your picture...I was at the range and shooting about 6 different 1911's Friday afternoon --including the two I just mentioned. The last time my gunsmith saw his, I was using his Pro Carry as a weak hand gun with mine ( they compliment each other). Just checked my answering machine -gunsmith " OK, I assume you still have my gun...when do I get it back?". Me " what Pro Carry?, last I saw you you were carrying that Mil-Spec. Gunsmith " I do know where you live--remember?" Me " Oh I wondered where that gun came from?" :)
Can't get buy with anything...for very long anyway...
Enjoy the new gun, great shooters, I still accuse my gunsmith of running his through the washer and dryer though...matches mine, just a tad shorter, and bit lighter...
