I've never shot a shotgun match, what kind of 'bird shot' is required?

Birdshot to me means just that. Regular standard old birdshot. I use the #8 or #7 cheap Winchester bulk pack stuff you can get at Walmart for $15 a hundred.

I was planning on using a FAL and a mossberg 500. What is good zero for my FAL for shooting 2gun? I have a thigh rig for FAL mags, but I have no carrier for shotgun shells, do you think a belt mounted gas mask pouch with shells in it would work well enough?

Heavy Metal = .308 irons, 12gauge pump, full power ammo
are 2 3/4" shells acceptable?

any idea on how many slugs and shells I should bring roughly?

thanks,

Since 3gun matches differ so much from club to club, when in doubt e-mail the match director.

Anything that the rest of us say would just be a total guess. Whatever they tell you for minimum round count, bring double.

As for zero, do what ever you are comfortable with. When I shoot .308 it is at a 200 yard zero, because that is what it on all of the time. But that is just me.

E-Mail the match director, he'll be able to tell you how much ammo to bring. Then bring 50% more.
