Which Tikka, Savage or CZ?

They make a ton of rifle between the three of them.

I just bought a Tikka .308 Whitetail Hunter syn blue NIB $400. I feel it was the most rifle for the money, comparing rifles at and above that similar price. This is a sporter weight rifle, if I wanting a strictly bench gun, then maybe a Savage 10FP with new trigger might have been my choice. Although I'm not sure if it would shoot any better than this Tikka. When the weather cooperates I will see what this rifle can really do. Sighted in Burris 3X9 with Port. 147gr. surplus ammo in windy conditions 1 to 1 1/4 MOA at 100 yards.
I had a coyote in my scope yesterday morning, 100 yards moving broadside, trying to decide when to take the shot all of the sudden BOOM and fur flies. My partner shot him with .243 out from under me. He didn't think I saw him, he says, he just couldn't wait any longer! So much for the plan of me shooting first to try my new rifle. He apoligized several times and bought me a set of shooting sticks he made later that day. Maybe tomorrow morning, we just got a fresh snow.

I too have a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in .308 and have found it to be an excellent rifle in terms of accuracy. The bolt is a joy to work. IMHO the Tikkas are one of the best values in rifles on the market today. Down side, if you don't mount a Weaver base, Tikka rings can be expensive and difficult to find. I was fortunate enough to have the dealer sell me the rings at half price when I bought the rifle.
I had a CZ 527 in .223. I liked the size of the rifle. It was a true compact with not just a short action but a downsized action in proportion to the rest of the rifle. Sighting it in was a bit difficult as the barrel is so light it heats up very quickly. The groups really opened up after three rounds. The action was no where near a smooth as the Tikka. The magazine on mine actually cut into the brass making feeding less than smooth. CZ did send me a new mag, but feeding still was no where near as smooth as I felt it should be. All in all it was not a bad rifle, its size made it easy to carry for long periods.
No comments on Savage, I just have not shot their bolt guns enough. I have seen targets shot by members of the club with Savages and most are certainly within 1-1/2 MOA or better.
My opinion, and remember what you paid for it, would be the Tikka.

That was my exact question a week ago. Just ordered a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in .308 with 1" low-height Optilok and a Kahles 6x42 7A scope from SWFA.

I've owned two of the three in that caliber -- a Whitetail Hunter and a CZ527. For a walking around rifle the CZ has a lot to recommend it. The rifle is light, the action is sized to the cartridge and mine was accurate putting 3 rounds into 3/4's of an inch. What I didn't like were the magazine lips which were very sharp and cut deep gouges into the brass and the single set trigger which I couldn't get adjusted to my satisfaction. Either the unset was too heavy or the set was too light.

The Tikka was as accurate as the CZ but built on a .308 sized action and required spacers in the magazine for the shorter .223 cartridge. No big deal but I prefer a rifle action sized to the cartridge. The replacement magazines were pricey but they did work. It comes with a 3 shot but a 6 round is available. The trigger is very good and adjustable. If I were looking for a heavy barrel gun, the Tikka would be a good choice.

Ultimately, I ended up with a Sako 75 and it's the best .223 I've owned and I've owned several.

No experience with with the Savage.

Well pretty much nothing out of the box can compare with a Sako 75 IMHO.

Tikka .308 WH syn. passed the test yesterday. Pair of coyotes coming in to predator call from a hard right angle, obstructed by brush, wouldn't get a shot until they get more in front of me. At about 125 yards they put on the brakes and started going away, but as they did their new angle was going to open them up to a shot. I was sitting using shooting sticks, coyote quartering away at a trot, range with as clear as shot as I was going to get = 225 yards, light breeze at my back, bullet = Estate w/ Speer 150 gr. PSP, used second plex on my Burris 3X9 ballestic plex centered on his chest and pulled the trigger.
Coyote dropped in place, no movement. Didn't get shot at second coyote. Inspection revealed a young male, hit a little higher than I would like in the middle of the back. 1 1/2 higher would have been a Miss. Probably should have held dead on right at front of shoulder at that range, next time. He was still pretty dead.
Rifle is a keeper!
