alright this time its a used 1006 S&W
its been used but not abused. I know the current owner very well and have delt with him in the past.
I havent shot the gun but have handled it and everything seems tight.
Stainless 1006, extra mag, some ammo and brass (100 or so?) and a small hard case for $625
what do you guys and gals think?

Prices are very regional things gun wise. That said it seemed very high to me but checked a couple of auction sites and suprisingly to me seems pretty much in line with what most folks are asking.
Guess it's kinda like real estate, they ain't making anymore of them....

koth,
I concur with Blueduck, and would add that he is probably @ $100 or so higher than where similar pistols can be found many places, not including the internet. $525? Maybe...Mike

I saw a NIB 1006 at a local gunshow about six months ago, I think the price was $550. It was gone within about 4 hours. The prices on the 1006 have skyrocketed. I think S&W would do well to make a limited run of a 1000 or so.

Or they could just make a batch every couple of years. That would take care of demand. Lots of people like these guns. Including me. I'll evenutally get one, but current 1006 prices make the Glock 20 a better deal so I got that and used the extra money to purchase a couple of 15 round pre-bans.
As far as the price goes. If it's really pristine and you want the gun, it's not terribly out of line but for that price you should get 2 mags, box, papers, the whole nine yards. Maybe you can inch him down $75-50?

I passed up a couple, last year, at a local gunshop (that does a high volume) for under $400.
I think its a regional thing. Police departments in our area had some 10mms (1076) a few years back, and you could pick them up for $325. You'd see them every year or two, back on the market, after the novelty wore off, for about the same price.
I just don't shoot these big boomers all that well, or I would have jumped on the $400 ones...

Many consider the 1006 the cream of the crop among the S&W 10mm. That's why the prices of them are higher than the other models. $600 is getting to be a good ballpark figure for one in excellent shape.

the general consenses seems to be that it is an average price.
the gun has been privatley owned. the current owner is number 2.
when I told my friend that i thouight his price was a little high he said the same thing.
"well, there not making any more of em"
Ill prolly have to jump on it.

I have seen many of them in used cond. for about $450. I was not even a little tempted to get one because S&W autos are like Ruger autos in my book. They are good solid guns but they have no style and they don't feel very good in my hands. If you like it, I still think the price is on the high side but prices vary and so does cond. If it is in like new shape, that wouldn't be a rip off. 10mms either go for top dollar or you can get them at bargin basment prices, it all depends on location and how many buyers there are for that gun. Sometimes I see 10mms fetch a King's ransom and sometimes they sit on the shelf for years.

That is from the 2004 Standards. Like someone else said, prices vary depending on your geographical location.
