All the mausers I have seen are Yugo's Chech' etc. Are these the same guns pretty much? Thanks for any info.

They have a very good inventory of old military firearms. They have had the authentic German Mausers.

Try Empire Arms. They look to have some nice ones, but they're selling out quickly.

Actual K98k WWII-era mausers are getting harder to find and are worth a chunk of change. The ones I've seen look like they went through the worst parts of WWII. If you're after a shooting mauser, go with the much less expensive VZ-24 Czechs or the M-48 Yugos.
The very best military Mausers aren't German at all, but Persian. I just got an M-49 Iranian carbine that shoots as well as my VZ-24 despite having a tiny barrel.

Try Aim, they had some real nice German K98's for $200. Condition was good+-very good. My bore was mint!

The ones at CDNN are going fast. I got a select a couple of weeks ago and they were almost out of the selects then. I heard they were also running out of the VGs as well. I'll put a plug in for them though, for sending better than advertised goods and having friendly, fast (my rifles were shipped the day I placed the order) service.

Note that the Yugo M48/M48A is not a standard Mauser; the action is 1/4 inch shorter than the standard action as used in the K.98k, G.98, VZ-24, etc. One company has been selling the M48 at a very high price with a lot of advertising hype, but they are not K.98k's, not German, not WWII vintage, and have little historical value.
True, unaltered K.98k's are getting very expensive. Most nice ones are WWII vet bringbacks, but most now being sold are altered in some way, either by obliterating some of the German markings, or by complete refurbishing with receiver rings ground down.
If buying a K.98k, sight unseen, make sure what you are getting. Incidentally, the K.98k has no handguard behind the rear sight, a turned down bolt, and the left side sling with the hole in the butt stock (no swivels). They may have solid or laminated stocks.

I found it for $295 up here in Alaska. Darn good deal, since it turns out the thing is basically unissued and is a NON-import. Somebody, probably connected with big oil, must have brought the thing home from Iran in the good old days. I'm cleaning it up now and will probably re-sell it.
It's a snappy little rifle, but I don't like firearms that are just too rare to shoot. That's actually a problem with the K98k's, too. If you have one in good condition, it's not PC to go throwing a bunch of surplus turk ammo through it for fun at the range, let alone to get it beat up in the field.

Yes, the K98Ks at CDNN are not "true" K98s in that they are Yugo reworks with all the former German markings replaced with Yugo marks. They are K98s mechanically though, so I think it's a good option if you want an K98 shooter versus a K98 investment.
I think Empire is just about out of their current batch of K98s. I saw that Allan's Armory still had quite a few left when last I visited their website.

i bought one of the M98's from CDNN, very nice, but definitely need a good cleaning job. the finish on the stock is about 80%, very few blemishes. the bore is in great condition as well. just make sure you completely clean it, the firing pin spring on mine was pretty gunked up.
for $170 its a good deal.

You can get a Czech made K98 from samcoglobal.com
http://samcoglobal.com/rifles.html#98k
They are pretty much as described in the ad with the markings ground off the receiver and there is no hole drilled in the stock for a cleaning rod. The copy I have has about 80% of the blue and a brand new looking bore. The trigger is really stiff as it really hasn't been worn in yet, but it still is an excellent shooter. I'm not sure that they were made during the war but may have been made from parts or barreled actions left over that never made it into rifles- were probably postwar builds.
