Say, I just got a used Sig 228. Love it but the slide doesn't lock back after the last round. don't think I'm limp wristing it - no problems with all my other semi-autos. Any ideas out there?

thanks.

Is your thumb (of either the strong or weak hand) resting on the slide stop during shooting? A common occurrance with SIG P22X guns. Did it a few time myself.

Could it be a magazine problem?

Could be weak mag spring, or previous owner installed extra heavy recoil spring, or slide lock spring has been bent out of shape.

Mine occassionally failed to lock back. A plus-power mag spring solved the problem, though I'm not sure what caused it (not my thumb, btw).

Mark the mags.

SIG's are very finicky when it comes to clean mag's. If the very top inside of the magazine, when it curves inward, is not clean, the follower will not come all of the way to the top and lock back the slide after the last shot.

I am having the same problem with my NIB 226, I have many other semi-autos, none of which I have no problems with. I am attributing my problems to having the gun for only a week, not proberly bronen in yet, amd am hoping that the problem will work itself out over time.
