I picked up a Kris Cutlery 26" Standard Katna today for a good price at the Holloway Show in Kville. A vendor happened to have nearly a dozen of the 29 and 26 inch Standards and I was able to handle each one and find those that were the most "alive".

While not pretty they certainly feel good and cut well (4" hickory was no problem to cut and the blade showed no evidence of having been damaged).

There are several more there and I'm tempted to get one of the 29" blades as well.

This is the OTHER good source of 5160 cheapo Katanas that just plain work, the other being the Everest from HI. Both of 'em rock. The HI is tougher, having a "Khukuri technology influenced" grip...but not THAT much tougher.

4" hickory was no problem to cut Tree? Or seasoned wood, like an axehandle?

Those are GREAT blades for the money! Do they have any of the 26" versions left for sale? Also, at what price if you don't mind my asking?

He was selling "your pick" for $200. I got mine for $180.

No tax. No shipping. Just dead presidents and out the door.

I don't know if he had any more by the time the show closed today since I told several folks about them and I didn't have the chance to get back up there (a filthy dog washed away part of the afternoon and my guro cut into the rest of it) [get it "dog" "wash" "guro" "cut" :scrutiny: Ahem, sorry]
