I was banging away at the range this morning.
One of the firearms I took was my Marlin 1894FG in .41 Magnum.
I was shooting Remington "Police" loads, 210 grain SWCs at about 900 fps, at an International Silhouette targets at 50 yards.
I shot two at the middle of the target and then one at the head.

At 50 yards things were pretty dismal. My eyes don't get along with open sights any more.
I did better at 50 feet, even moving along I put two high in the 10 ring and one in the head. We had other targets up at 25 so I didn't shoot there. I think I could use the open sights out that far, but after that things get annoying quickly.

I've been planning to put peep sights on the Marlin, now I guess I'd better get moving.

Who has favorite peep sights for a Marlin lever? I was thinking about a Marble's tang sight, but don't want to have to drill the tang for it.
What are some other options?

Williams or Lyman receiver sight.

Does it have two holes with plug screws about half an inch apart on the upper left rear side of the receiver? That is where they mount.

If it is NOT drilled and tapped there, does it have holes on top for a scope base? Then you could get a Williams Guide or Express Sight Systems to mount there.

Brownells gottum.

I have a peep site from http://www.wildwestguns.com/ that works good. It mounts on top of the reciever like a normal rear sight. You have to order an aftermarket front site from somewhere like Williams though because it's too tall for the factory front site. I'd sell it for $75.

I've got a Marlin 1894SS (44 Mag). I put a set of Williams Fire Sights on it. The rear sight (peep) mounts in the holes in the receiver where you mount a scope. I mounted mine in the front holes in the receiver because when mounted in the rear holes it seemed to be in the way of the hammer and safety. The front sight is a fiber optic sight (you can sure see this alot better). If your Marlin has holes in the receiver to mount a scope I recommend these sights.

I had a Marlin 1894P...I put XS Sights on it. They were great and easy to install.

I put a Williams peep and Firesight front bead on my 1894 .41, works good for me.

I have to put this up Marble's tang sight, I got mine from American backyard. I found a Merit adjustable peep sight at a local show and it is the wrong thread.
