Other than the scope what is the difference?
Quite a difference in price. What are opinions on the stock? Has bubbles on forearm.
I'm think bout getting one in 300 WSM.
I'd appreciate feedback.

Think I'll wait for the Primium Super Tactical Ultimate Classic Scout Sniper version.

The difference is the extent of the shadow, I guess.

Super seems to be matte only, Ultimate seems to be stainless and blue.
Super has Control Push Feed, Ultimate has Controlled Feed.
Super has blind mag, Ultimate has hinged floorplate.

While we're on the subject, what's the difference between "controlled feed" and "controlled push feed"? Also - why is it a good thing? I've heard this as a selling point of the M70, but don't understand how it differs/is better than say a Remington or Savage.....

controlled feed (crf) typically has to be loaded into the chamber via the magazine. when the bolt picks up the cartridge, it is in complete control of the cartridge - you can pull the bolt back at any time w/o chambering and the cartridge will come back out.
the crpf (controlled round push feed) that winchester puts out is supposedly able to operate as either a push or controlled feed. in practice, it doesn't work out quite that well... easier to use the crf feature (load from magazine) than to use the winchester pf feature.
what's better? i like remingtons, and therefore prefer push feeds (note: not crpf). but, in a hunting grade rifle, there is not a lot of practical difference - go w/ what you like.
also depends on who you talk to... some say push feeds are better because they are more accurate. the crf guys say the crf is better because they hang upside down in a tree and still chamber a cartridge... whatever...

OK - here's another dumb question: Why is a push feed more accurate?
I don't usually hang upside down while chambering a cartridge, but you never know........

i don't have a good answer to that one... only conjecture. you'll have to hope that somebody who knows will tell you.
understand that the comment about hanging upside down was made mostly in jest... the main thing to the crf guys is that they feel confident that their rifles won't jam or give them feeding troubles at a critical moment.
i've never had any trouble getting my remingtons feed, critical moment or not. i don't like the feel of the det mag models, but the hinged floorplates are flawless.
and, again, in a hunting rifle (vice a benchrest competition gun) i submit the accuracy differences will be so minor that you could not rule out shooter error as a cause.
all the major brands are represented in my cabinet, and my preference is remington and their push feed action. i'm willing to bet that there are some strong arguments in favor of the crf actions, especially from 'classic gun' guys (you know, the elk hunters who wouldn't dream of hunting elk w/ anything but a pre-64 winchester 70 chambered to 338...)...
best to you on your choice.
