FFl friend has a Interesting old Carbine sized rim fire large caliber rifle.

Seems to be called a Comblain.

Other markings: Liege Belgian-trp.

Like I said it is a rimfire of some sort Single shot. Blued with a two piece stock. With some sort of falling blosk action?

Anybody know the history or values?

The only Comblain I find was made in Belgium and Brazil, I'm guessing your's is Belgian. Falling block action in 11X53R. Made with and without a hammer. Blue book value is $250 for poor to $750 for excellent. I can't find manufacture dates.

Here are some pictures of a Brazilian Comblain Carbine Model 92. It was manufactured by ED Malherbe in Liege, Belgium. Probably a Belgium Model 88.

Comblains manufactured for the Brazilian Army can be identified by the short receiver and an extra locking screw on the left side of the receiver. (Large screw at front of receiver.)

Just for further education, that bluebook value is well off the mark. Thousand dollars and up for a good one.

Odd cartridge- no shoulder or neck, the bullet just sinks into the case like a giant .22lr.

One other interesting feature of the Brazilian versions is that they were a very early concealed hammer rifle.
In my earlier post you can see the cartridge is tapered, this was probably the natural evolution from a paper cartridge.
