Can anyone tell me if the Daewoo DR rifles will be allowed for import again, once the AWB dies?
As I recall, the Daewoos were banned for import by Bush 41 <spit>, but I think once the AWB dies, it should be okay again.
Confirmation, anyone?

No the AWB had nothing to do with banning imports. The import ban was a EO by Bush sr, and I think Ciltion had an EO adding to it.

Unless I'm mistaken they are banned under the '89 executive order you mentioned above.
The AWB has nothing to do with import/export.
Unless a domestic manufacturer starts making a copy stateside there won't be any more.
If you want a non-AR15 in .223 take a look at the AR180 by Armalite.
Love your "blog" by the way.

Crap. I thought the importation had been caught in the "penumbra" of the AWB.
Not that I care for myself -- I don't like the .223 poodleshooters -- but others may want to purchase this fine-looking gun.
Thankee for the kind words.

There's a possibility that they will return, but they would have to go through the same dance that gets WASRs and the like into the country.
Folks may remember that, pre-'94, "post-ban" had a different meaning, and referred to the thumbhole-stocked "post-'89 Bush Ban" guns, like the MAK-90 and SR9.
