Hey guy; I asked everywhere else so here goes, does anybody have good load Data for the 300 gr Barnes X in a .458
I use the 400 gr with 79.5 gr H335 and CCI primers in a Win Case

I've experimented using an old Fred Barnes recommendation of 71.0 IMR-4198 and got about 2850fps with a 20inch barrel

Suggest if you are going to load Barnes X bullets, buy the manual. As I'm sure you have seen, these bullets are not typical and due to the exaggerated bullet lengths, they reduce the allowable case volume. Using load data from another source can cause pressure problems. And we all know what can happen there. Lose an eye or even worse damage a gun. :D

Your 400 grain load is 2.5 grains over recommended maximum.

Barnes recommended powders for the 300 grain X bullet is H4198 (64 grain start and 69 grains at the top end) and RL7 (64 grains start and 69 grains maximum).
